KIFF: Film Fest Favorites return this weekend for one week run.

The documentary "Getting to The Nutcracker" and the drama "The Umbrella Man" have won Audience Awards from the recently concluded Kansas International Film Festival.

The winners, announced Monday, will return for regular runs on alternating days starting Friday at the Glenwood Arts, at 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas.

"Getting to The Nutcracker" follows the students at a prestigious Los Angeles ballet school as they try out for the iconic Christmas ballet.

Maria Kochetkova rehearses with Eli

Guest artist, Maria Kochetkova from San Francisco Ballet, rehearsed her Sugar Plum role with the Marat Daukayev Ballet Theatre for this season's Nutcracker and Eli got to be her Prince since her male professional partner hasn't been chosen yet.  Eli was nervous but Maria never knew it!  His mom said "it's likely the first time Maria's Prince ever had braces..."

THEATRICAL RELEASE

GETTING TO THE NUTCRACKER will have its bi-coastal theatrical release beginning November 7th for one week, with 4 screenings per day at both the Village East Cinemas at 189 2nd Avenue New York, NY and in California at Laemmle's Pasadena Playhouse 7 at 39 South El Molino Avenue in Pasadena.

Q and A to follow evening screening in Pasadena with director, Serene Meshel - Dillman and moderated by Debbie Allen.
